FIRE SAFETY DESIGN
Developing a robust fire safety strategy is one of the most consequential decisions made during the design of any building. At FlamX Fire, our fire safety design service covers the full spectrum of consultancy for new-build and refurbishment projects — from early concept through to Building Regulations submission.
For developments in London, we produce fire statements for planning applications in compliance with London Plan Policy D5 and D12, as well as Gateway 1 fire statements for Higher Risk Buildings (HRBs). Where standard Approved Document B solutions are unsuitable, we develop performance-based fire safety strategies that demonstrate compliance through engineering evidence rather than prescriptive rules, unlocking design freedom without compromising safety.
We work directly alongside architects, structural engineers, and project managers from RIBA Stage 1 onwards, ensuring fire safety is integrated into the design rather than retrofitted at the end.
FIRE ENGINEERING MODELLING
When a building's geometry, occupancy, or design ambition moves beyond what prescriptive guidance can address, engineering modelling provides the evidential foundation for a defensible fire safety case.
Our CFD fire modelling service uses Computational Fluid Dynamics to simulate fire and smoke behaviour in three dimensions, within the actual geometry of the building being designed. This allows us to test smoke control strategies, verify evacuation routes, and quantify the performance of the proposed design under realistic fire conditions — with a level of physical accuracy that no prescriptive rule can match.
Alongside CFD fire modelling, we undertake radiative heat analysis for facade and external fire spread assessment, quantitative risk analysis, and evacuation modelling to verify that means of escape perform as intended across a range of credible fire scenarios.
CONSTRUCTION STAGE SUPPORT
Fire safety on a construction site is not simply a matter of having a strategy in place it requires active management as the building takes shape.
FlamX Fire provides construction stage fire safety support for contractors, developers, and project managers throughout the build programme. Our services include timber frame fire safety assessments, evaluating the risk of external fire spread during construction for CLT and mass timber structures where incomplete compartmentation creates a significantly elevated risk profile.
We also produce construction fire safety strategies, carry out compartmentation inspections, and provide fire barrier inspection services to verify that passive fire protection is installed correctly and in accordance with the design intent — giving clients confidence before occupation and handover.
